“From the Crime Scene to the Courtroom” Best Practices and Procedures

Thu, 02/01/2018

Our office conducted another training for our Law Enforcement partners yesterday in Saluda County. Solicitor Rick Hubbard, Chief Investigator Matt Martin, and Investigator James “Sully” Sullivan of the Eleventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office conducted this training session for Law Enforcement officers throughout Edgefield, McCormick, and Saluda counties. The training was held at the Saluda County Courthouse. Approximately 30 officers from the Town of Saluda Police Dept, McCormick County Sheriff’s Office, Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office, and Saluda County Sheriff's Office attended the training.

This training included segments on photo lineups; obtaining statements from victims, witnesses, and defendants; collecting and storing evidence; and preparing case files for prosecution as well as other dynamics of police investigations. The goal of this training was to provide our officers with tips and advice when approaching cases that will ultimately help them build on their fundamentals.

These officers know that they can call on us for assistance with their cases. When we work as a team with law enforcement, we ultimately obtain better results. We look forward to having more trainings like this in the future.
