Repeat offender sentenced to a total of 20 years for Domestic Violence and Unlawful Conduct towards a Child

Repeat offender Jason Leaphart was sentenced today to a total of 20 years for Domestic Violence and Unlawful Conduct towards a Child. Leaphart injured an infant during a domestic violence assault. The sentence was handed down by Circuit Court Judge William P. Keesley.

The child victim sustained bruising when Leaphart assaulted the mother of the child while she was holding the 3 month old infant. Leaphart's lengthy criminal record includes criminal sexual conduct, burglary 3rd degree, burglary 2nd degree, assault & battery 2nd degree, and intimidation of a court official.

The current sentence includes 10 years for a revocation of probation. The domestic violence investigation was conducted by the Lexington County Sheriff's Department and the probation violation was handled by probation agent Dan Lake of Saluda County.

The prosecution of this case was handled by Eleventh Circuit Assistant Solicitor La'Jessica Stringfellow.
