Senior Paralegal Tara Knotts Grigsby is retiring today after many years of service with the County of Lexington and nearly 22 years with the Solicitor’s Office.
Tara began her service to the office before there was an official case management system. Tara assisted with the creation of a management system and she trained staff and attorneys. She also implemented the paralegal training system for the office. Throughout her career in our office, she has assisted with the trials of over 30 homicide cases in addition to at least 7 death penalty cases.
As the senior paralegal on the most recent death penalty case of Timothy Jones, Jr., Tara had primary responsibility for organizing and reviewing all case materials, which was the most our office has ever handled in terms of the voluminous amount of materials that existed. This was an immense responsibility, both professionally and personally, as the case carried a heavy emotional toll on all members of the prosecution team.
Tara carried out her duties with tremendous heart and dedication and was an invaluable asset to the team.
We thank Tara for her tireless service to Lexington County and to the Solicitor’s Office. We wish her well and hope that she enjoys each day of her retirement.
