Lexington County General Sessions First and Second Appearances resume next week

First Appearance is scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Marc H. Westbrook Judicial Center, 205 East Main Street, Lexington, South Carolina. If you were noticed at bond court to appear, please arrive at the designated time on your paperwork with a face mask.

Second Appearance is scheduled for Friday, November 13, 2020, at the Marc H. Westbrook Judicial Center, 205 East Main Street, Lexington, South Carolina. If you were mailed a notice to appear, please arrive at the designated time on your paperwork with a face mask.

You do not have to be present at either appearance IF you  have a lawyer and your attorney has provided a letter of representation to the Solicitor’s Office prior to your appearance date.

If you have been approved for a public defender and have paid the $40 dollars to the clerk’s office, but you have not completed the screening process by speaking with a paralegal at the public defender’s office, you have not yet been assigned a public defender. You must call the public defender’s office at (803) 785-8873 and complete the process to obtain an attorney. Once this is done, you will be assigned a public defender and will be excused from this Court appearance.

If you were approved for a public defender at bond court, but you have not yet paid the $40 dollars to the clerk’s office, you do not have an attorney yet and need to go to the courthouse drive thru located at 205 E. Main St., Lexington, SC, pay the $40 dollars (cash or money order only) to the clerk’s office and then contact the public defender’s office at (803) 785-8873 to complete the process to be assigned an attorney. Upon completion of this, you will be assigned a public defender and will be excused from this Court appearance.

If you want to be screened for a public defender, you need to complete the attached form and take it and $40 dollars (cash or money order only) to the courthouse drive thru located at 205 E. Main St. Lexington, SC and complete the process as described above. If you are approved for a public defender and upon completion of the process, you will be assigned a public defender and be excused from this Court appearance.

IF YOU DO NOT APPEAR FOR THIS COURT APPEARANCE AND YOU DO NOT HAVE AN ATTORNEY, A BENCH WARRANT WILL BE ISSUED FOR YOUR ARREST.

DO NOT APPEAR IF you are running a fever or displaying symptoms of COVID-19, have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days, or are quarantined because of contact with someone who tested positive.  If this is the case you MUST call the Solicitor’s Office at (803) 785-8352 and you will be provided with an alternative process for this Court appearance.
