Lexington County Domestic Abuser sentenced to 7 Years in the Department of Corrections

Gregory Mark Crolley, 52, pled guilty to Domestic Violence in the First Degree and was sentenced to seven (7) years in the South Carolina Department of Correction by Circuit Court Judge Frank R. Addy, Jr., yesterday in Lexington County. This charged carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison. It is considered a violent offense and a strike under South Carolina law. 

This case was prosecuted by Assistant Solicitor Kelly Oppenheimer and the Lexington County Sheriff's Department handled the investigation.

Between September 21 and September 22, 2019, the defendant assaulted the victim multiple times by repeatedly striking her about the head with a closed fist.  When the victim attempted to leave, Crolley followed her in his vehicle, forced her back in the residence, and continued to assault her.  A third party witness driving by observed the incident and intervened. The victim had bruising and abrasions to her arms, hands, and head as a result of the assault. 

Crolley has two prior convictions for Domestic Violence from 2019. He also has prior convictions for Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, Assault with Intent to Kill, multiple Assault and Battery charges, Arson, Grand Larceny and Housebreaking, and several other charges.
