Tony James Smith, age 28, was sentenced last week in Lexington County to 10 years for Distribution of Methamphetamine, 3rd Offense. The sentence was handed down by Circuit Court Judge Walton J. McLeod, IV.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant Solicitor Melanie Darko. Smith was scheduled for trial this week in Lexington County General Sessions Court when he elected to plead guilty.

Evidence prepared for presentation at trial established that on March 28, 2018, agents with Lexington County’s Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) conducted a controlled purchase of methamphetamine from Smith on Cottingham Court in Lexington.

Smith was transferred to the S.C. Department of Corrections to begin service of his sentence.
