Garey Emil Cason, Jr., age 43, received the maximum sentence of 15 years this week in Lexington County for the charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor - Third Degree. The maximum sentence was imposed by Circuit Court Judge William P. Keesley. The victim, who was under the age of sixteen at the time of the offense, reported the crime in 2016. The offense occurred during the time period of 2011.
This case was prosecuted by 11th Circuit Deputy Solicitor Suzanne Mayes and investigated by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. The victim, now an adult, shared a statement during the sentencing hearing which conveyed the impact of this crime.
Cason must also register as a sex offender and be monitored by GPS tracking as a result of this conviction. Cason has been incarcerated in the S.C. Department of Corrections since 2015 while serving a six (6) year sentence on an unrelated charge of sexual exploitation of a minor.
