SC Bar YLD Protecting Our Youth Day hosted at the Lexington County Courthouse

Fri, 03/22/2019

The South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division’s Protecting Our Youth Committee hosted their annual event today at the County of Lexington courthouse. Solicitor Rick Hubbard, Assistant Solicitor Sutania A. Fuller, Investigator James Sullivan, Defense Attorney Derrick Mobley, along with paralegal Carly Glenn participated in the program.

The program educated middle and high school students about the consequences of their actions. The program consisted of a presentation by former offenders who have turned their life around, a panel discussion about the “hand of one” law, gang prevention, and a mock guilty plea where Circuit Court Judge Walton J. McLeod, IV, presided.

During lunch, students were required to interact with several agencies. Senior Assistant Solicitor Angela Martin, and Assistant Solicitors Kyle Smith and Ruston Neely represented our office. Students also had the opportunity to interact with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department, Lexington Police Department, South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services, South Carolina Department of Corrections Youthful Offender Program, and the 11th Circuit Public Defender’s Office.
