George Almodovar received a 9 year sentence last week for his role in an Armed Robbery that took place on December 6, 2017, at the Circle K in West Columbia. The sentence was handed down by Chief Administrative Judge Frank R. Addy, Jr. Under South Carolina law, this is a “no parole” offense.
This case was investigated by the West Columbia Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant Solicitor Sutania A. Fuller.
Almodovar entered the convenience store armed with a distinct machete. He threatened to cut off the clerk’s hands if she did not open the cash register. Almodovar was quickly identified as a suspect. While executing a search warrant on a room he was renting, law enforcement located amongst his property the distinct machete used in the robbery as well as the clothes he was wearing, which was captured on surveillance video. Almodovar later confessed to the robbery.
