Eleventh Circuit Assistant Solicitor Casey Rankin was sworn in today by United States Attorney Beth Drake for the District of South Carolina as a Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA). By having a SAUSA as part of our office, it gives us the option to prosecute certain cases under either state or federal law.

In many cases, we will now have an option to prosecute defendants under federal law. This will help create a working relationship between state and federal law enforcement agencies.
