22 years in prison for the Shooting Death of a Lexington Man

Fri, 02/09/2018

Wade Frye, Jr., has been sentenced to 22 years in prison in the shooting death of Joshua Prine after an altercation Frye initiated. Frye shot Prine in the back. Witnesses reported that Frye was involved in the trade of methamphetamine. Frye entered a plea to Voluntary Manslaughter during the trial this week in Lexington County prior to the State resting its case. This conviction is classified as a “no parole” offense in South Carolina.

Deputy Solicitor Suzanne Mayes and Assistant Solicitor Gill Bell handled the prosecution of this case for the office. We are tremendously appreciative of the assistance of the Lexington County Sheriff's Department during the investigation and trial preparation of this case. The case was investigated by Lt. Jesse Laintz, Benjamin Booth, Detective Brannon Marthers, and Sgt. Mike Gooding.
