Fri, 10/20/2017

Felony DUI offender, Guy M. Collins of Pawley's Island, pled guilty and was sentenced this week to 7 years incarceration for a crash that injured another motorist in Lexington County. This case was investigated by Trooper Christopher Woods of the South Carolina Highway Patrol and prosecuted by 11th Circuit Assistant Solicitor Todd Wagoner.

The victim sustained great bodily injuries from the impact and it took a number of months for her to regain her health. She continues to be treated for some medical issues.

The son of the injured female motorist addressed Judge William P. Keesley during the sentencing hearing. "He will spend a lot of time behind bars ... He'll also have lots of time to think about how he changed Mom's life forever." He went on to say the family felt the outcome was the best they could have hoped for.

The collision occurred in June 2016 at the intersection of Pond Branch Road & Calks Ferry Road in the County of Lexington.
