Tue, 09/05/2017

Solicitor Rick Hubbard, Chief Investigator Matt Martin, and Investigator James “Sully” Sullivan of the Eleventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office conducted a training session today for Law Enforcement officers throughout Lexington County. The training was hosted by the West Columbia Police Department at the West Columbia City Complex.

The topic of this training is Criminal Investigations: Best Practices and Procedures. It included segments on photo lineups; obtaining statements from victims, witnesses and defendants; collecting and storing evidence; and preparing case files for prosecution as well as other dynamics of police investigations.

Officers from the West Columbia Police Department, Cayce Department of Public Safety, Batesburg-Leesville Police Department, Town of Springdale Police Department, Swansea Police Department - "Home of the Tigers", South Congaree Police Department, Irmo Police Department, Lexington Police Department, and the Lexington County Sheriff's Department were represented at this training.

The goal of this training was to provide our officers with tips and advice when approaching cases that will ultimately help them build on their fundamentals. It is important that all of law enforcement knows that they can always call on us for help with their cases. We look forward to having more trainings like this in the future.
