Fri, 05/12/2017

Jeremy Junior Head pled guilty this week in the shooting death of his roommate, Antonio "Alex" Cano, age 23. Cano sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the chest and back from an AK-47 rifle during the early morning hours of October 12, 2015. The two men had an altercation which ended in Head grabbing the rifle and firing multiple rounds. Head then fled the residence located on Steel Street in West Columbia. He was later apprehended by the SLED Fugitive Task Force in Anderson County.

Head was sentenced to 24 years. This is a "no parole" offense.

This case was investigated by Inv. Thomas Griffin and fellow officers from the West Columbia Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Deputy Solicitor Suzanne Mayes. Judge Eugene C. Griffith, Jr. imposed the sentence.

Cano was a father of three and worked in a restaurant. Cano's family members attended the sentencing hearing and described the impact of his sudden loss on his children.
